Job Summary

The University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics is seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Pharmacist to join our team in the Department of Radiology. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing patient-oriented service that embodies the scientific knowledge and professional judgment required to improve and promote health through the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and dispense radioactive drugs and devices in accordance with physician orders and in compliance with Federal and State regulations and Departmental policies.
  • Perform quality control tests on radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with Federal and State regulations, professional practice standards, and Departmental policies.
  • Maintain records of all transactions, monitoring, and test results, and other documentation in compliance with Federal and State regulations, professional practice standards, and University and Departmental policies.
  • Procure radiopharmaceuticals and supplies in compliance with Federal and State regulations and University and Departmental policies.
  • Participate in provision of Departmental inservice education and training programs, and in the education and training of students, residents, and others.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree is required.
  • Eligibility for or current license by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners is required.
  • Board Certification in Nuclear Pharmacy within 12 months of hire is required.
  • Recognition as an Authorized Nuclear Pharmacist by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission or Iowa Department of Public Health is required.
  • Two years' experience in nuclear pharmacy practice is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active board certification in Nuclear Pharmacy is highly desirable.
  • Able to work independently, prioritize multiple stakeholders and tasks, manage details, and deliver results in an environment with competing demands.
