About the Role

Sovah Health is seeking a PRN Respiratory Therapist Tier IV to join our team in Martinsville, VA. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Examine patients with breathing-related conditions and conduct diagnostic testing
  • Consult with physicians to develop and implement a treatment plan for the patient
  • Perform physiotherapy and other treatments and teach patients to use medications
  • Measure lung capacity and analyze blood samples using a blood gas analyzer
  • Deliver and assess response to ordered therapy per plan of care
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate
  • Evaluate respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices
  • Respond to codes and calls for emergent assistance
  • Educate the patient and family about the patient's illness and provide information about community support groups and other resources
  • Monitor, receive, stock, and distribute respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders
  • Maintain storage areas with required supply levels and equipment
  • Disassemble, clean, and sterilize equipment, and perform preventative maintenance and calibration of machines
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved Respiratory Care Program, with an A.A.S. degree, Certification of Graduation, or equivalent
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia, to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • Certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (CRT) or (RRT) required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 18 months of RRT hospital experience
  • Minimum 36 months of CRT hospital experience
