Ridgecrest, California, United States DCS Corp Full time

Salary Range: $91,559 - $123,732

DCS Corp is seeking a Cyber System Security Engineer to support critical defense initiatives. This role integrates traditional systems engineering with cybersecurity principles, requiring a comprehensive understanding of both hardware and software design.

The ideal candidate will possess experience with air platforms or weapon systems and will be eager to apply cybersecurity engineering skills to develop engineering requirements and conduct Cyber Survivability Risk Assessments (CSRAs) alongside threat vector analyses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and identify cyber threats at various levels including system, sub-system, hardware, and software.
  • Review and analyze technical documentation, such as Interface Control Documents (ICDs), specifications, and system architectures.
  • Research vulnerabilities using known databases (CVEs and CWEs) relevant to system components and software.
  • Prepare reports based on findings in accordance with Standard Work Packages (SWPs) or implementation guidelines.
  • Identify potential threat vectors and associated risks throughout the project lifecycle via engineering CSRAs.
  • Collaborate with Program Information Assurance personnel to align CSRA findings with NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements, providing necessary artifacts for achieving authority to operate (ATO).
  • Develop and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Investigate known mitigations applicable to system components and software.
  • Implement Defense-in-Depth strategies to fulfill cybersecurity objectives.
  • Present mitigation strategies to stakeholders and customize implementations to meet specific requirements.
  • Support the formulation of software, supply chain, and mission assurance plans.
  • Examine software development practices and build/delivery pipelines.
  • Trace system/product/component origins and supply chain pathways, documenting risks throughout the process.
  • Understand mission-critical functions and identify tools and techniques for both physical and logical security.
  • Contribute to the development of engineering requirements that enhance cyber resilience and operational effectiveness.
  • Encourage a culture of learning by providing mentorship and support to team members.

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory due to the sensitive nature of the work.
  • A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required. Candidates with a high school diploma and 15 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 4 years of relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Experience in Science/Engineering or Systems Engineering, with specific platform or weapon experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance and be eligible for TS/SCI clearance.
  • Proficient in working independently and adapting to a dynamic environment while adhering to stringent information security protocols.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal and investigative abilities.
  • At least one of the following certifications is required: CEH, Security+, CISSP, GIAC, Pentest+, or OSCP.
  • This position requires onsite work; remote work is not an option.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary.
  • High moral character and integrity are essential.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, or a related field is preferred; a Master’s degree is highly desirable.

Desired Skills:

  • Exceptional leadership, collaboration, and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strategic thinking and business insight to prioritize tasks aligned with organizational goals.
