Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our Surgical Care Service Line at the Jamaica Plain campus location. As a key member of our team, you will provide comprehensive and quality care to patients, working closely with our surgical team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' physical, emotional, and developmental status, making positive interventions to maintain, restore, or improve health.
  • Perform comprehensive outpatient and inpatient history and physical examinations, write medication and nursing orders, send consults to other services, discharge patients, and write discharge summaries.
  • Provide detailed instructions to staff during clinic hours to ensure patients are seen in an orderly and timely fashion.
  • Evaluate patients with wounds and make recommendations for dressing changes.
  • Participate in decision-making on patients scheduled for surgery, including scheduling with the operating room scheduler, assisting the supervising surgeon during surgery, and writing postoperative orders.
  • Coordinate surgical scheduling with patients to minimize impact on the patient and caregivers.
  • May assist with surgery or procedure in support of the attending staff.
  • Conduct visits using Virtual Video Calls (VVC) and other modalities.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant.
  • Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) or currently in the process of taking the exam.
  • Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in Gynecology with a women's health certification preferred.
  • Experience as a first assistant in surgery a plus.
Grade Determinations

The full performance level of this vacancy is PA III. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of PA I to PA III.

This is an Excepted Service position, and the salary is based on the grade and step approved for the selected candidate.
