About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist to join our team at Valid8 Financial, Inc. as a Lead Scientist, Translational Research. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of novel nanomedicines and HD therapeutics for the treatment of unmet medical needs in ophthalmology, neurology, inflammatory diseases, and neuro-oncology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and interpret in vivo experiments executed at Contract Research Organizations (CROs) to support mechanism of action pharmacology studies and nonclinical safety/PK studies.
  • Manage CROs to ensure execution of robust study designs and deliver clear, rigorous interpretation of data.
  • Design and implement in-house analyses of animal tissues following the conclusion of in vivo studies, with a focus on histological readouts (immunofluorescence/immunohistochemistry).
  • Contribute to early biomarker discovery and development, with a good understanding of PKPD relationships.
  • Manage and train a research associate to perform tasks above, and may be required to execute complex experimental protocols to establish new assays and troubleshoot issues prior to standardization of assays.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Neuroscience, or related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant laboratory experience post-Ph.D., minimum 2 years experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Expertise in standard in vivo assays and analyses such as IHC, FACS/flow cytometry, qPCR, ELISAs, and Western blots.
  • Experience working with image analysis software to independently analyze histological data, and be comfortable learning new technical microscopy equipment.
  • Proven track record of scientific success, with experience managing or mentoring a research associate.
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills, with interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within and across functions at a small company and fast-paced environment.
  • Independent, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Technical writing experience, such as protocols and reports.

The salary range for candidates located in the Bay Area is in the range of $120,000 - $160,000 depending on degree, years of experience, and skill sets.
