Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Manager to lead our team of GIS analysts in the Property Tax Division. The successful candidate will have a strong background in computer hardware and software configuration, as well as good knowledge of cadastral mapping, coordinate geometry (COGO), and land surveying concepts.

The GIS Manager will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing a department-wide geographic information system, overseeing statutory duties and deadlines for the Tax Code Area Administration, and managing staff in geographic information system, digital image analysis, digital and manual cartography, and database development.

The ideal candidate will have experience supervising and training technical IT staff, installing and maintaining multiple operating systems and system software, and identifying and resolving complex system-related problems.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, develop, and implement a department-wide geographic information system
  • Oversee the statutory duties and deadlines for the Tax Code Area Administration
  • Manage staff in geographic information system, digital image analysis, digital and manual cartography, and database development
  • Hire and train staff
  • Manage the GIS Mapping Support and Education of county staff
  • Develop annual operating and equipment budget
  • Set priorities, schedules, and assign mapping, drafting, and GIS projects
  • Provide consultation to department staff, Idaho Counties, and other agencies and taxing districts on geographic information systems
Requirements:
  • Some knowledge of budget practices (cost/benefit analysis)
  • Good knowledge of cadastral mapping, coordinate geometry (COGO), and land surveying concepts
  • Experience supervising and training technical IT staff
  • Experience installing and maintaining multiple operating systems and system software
  • Experience identifying and resolving complex system-related problems
