Be part of the team that educates stakeholders, maps, and generates funding for schools, cities, counties, local law enforcement, fire protection, highways, libraries, and more. The Idaho State Tax Commission is seeking a GIS Analyst III in our Property Tax Division.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) staff map taxing districts and tax code areas for the State of Idaho to ensure property taxes are administered fairly and equitably.
The successful candidate will have a background in GIS with the ability to utilize programming/scripting languages as well as ESRI ArcGIS Pro software and have excellent communication and customer service skills and good decision-making skills.
Attention to detail and strong research skills are necessary. The position is in the Boise Office in the Chinden Campus, 11321 West Chinden Blvd, Building 2. This announcement will be posted until a candidate is selected. A compensation analysis will be completed for the selected candidate.
Responsibilities:- Provide Tax Code Area (TCA) mapping. (Perform entire process from receiving annexation/boundary requests, analyzing, mapping, to finalizing.)
- Coordinate with internal and external partners to perform GIS workflows, including data management, conversion, creation, editing, analysis, and sharing.
- Maintain and update ArcGIS online webmaps.
- Provide GIS and cadastral mapping support to the Property Tax Division and county mapping personnel.
- Support the GIS Education program.
- Position will work with county elected officials and their staff as well as taxing district representatives.
The qualifications below are typically gained by at least 3 years of work experience that included these responsibilities or completion of upper division college coursework relating to GIS.
- Considerable knowledge of GIS including analysis, data capture, and data conversion, and cartographic principles.
- Good knowledge of GIS programming languages commonly used in the development of GIS programs, Database management, and Web APIs.
- At least 3 years of experience planning, designing, and implementing GIS projects and preparing reports of findings; operating, applying, and programming GIS software products in a work environment.
