Position Overview
The Counter Sales Associate plays a pivotal role at our wholesale HVAC distributorship, managing the sales counter and representing multiple brands of equipment, parts, and supplies. The primary objective of this position is to deliver exceptional customer service in a sales-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Counter Sales Associate, your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Representing Baker Distributing Company as an industry leader to maximize sales.
- Engaging with internal and external sales personnel, vendors, and contractors.
- Managing showroom merchandising and restocking of products.
- Assisting in resolving customer relations issues with dealers and end users.
- Completing the sales order process while actively seeking opportunities to upsell related items.
- Providing support to walk-in and telephone customers, including sourcing and shipping parts, inventory management, and warranty administration.
- Researching customer product and service needs using various resources.
- Organizing stock on shelves or racks in the sales area to maintain order.
- Applying suggestive selling techniques to current and prospective customers.
- Conducting outgoing customer sales or service calls and addressing customer complaints.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication skills and a solid background in technical support, HVAC parts, and customer service/sales.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- A minimum of 1+ year of experience in a Counter Sales role, preferably within the HVAC industry.
- Knowledge of air conditioning, heating, and ventilation equipment at a wholesale distribution level.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including sales acumen, problem-solving abilities, and a customer service focus.
- The capability to work independently while meeting assigned goals and objectives.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- A customer service mindset with a focus on building long-term relationships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- A valid Driver's License.
- Proficiency in English to ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The physical requirements for this position include the ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and engage in various physical activities such as standing, sitting, walking, climbing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Candidates must be comfortable using a computer keyboard, monitor, and telephone for extended periods.
Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employees may also operate equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
