Compensation Range: The complete compensation range for this position is $78,417.00 to $117,625.00 annually, with the typical hiring range being $90,501.00 to $108,000. The actual offer will take into account various factors, including but not limited to education, experience, internal equity, and other job-relevant considerations.

Position Summary:

This role is crucial for ensuring environmental regulatory compliance for NorthStar Energy and its associated companies. Responsibilities include planning and executing environmental policies and procedures in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations. The individual may also serve as a designated Qualified Individual (QI) for spill response.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement environmental programs, focusing on areas such as air quality, aboveground storage tanks, contaminated sites, due diligence, hazardous materials, spill prevention and response, and waste management. Specific focus areas will be determined based on departmental needs and may evolve over time.
  • Collaborate positively within the Environmental Department and with internal business partners to establish standard processes for environmental compliance, providing mentorship and training.
  • Communicate effectively with agency personnel, industry peers, contractors, and colleagues.
  • Develop and execute environmental initiatives, including compliance summaries, internal guidance documents, training modules, presentations, and manuals.
  • Prepare, review, and edit regulatory plans, permits, and applications.
  • Conduct facility inspections to ensure environmental compliance.
  • Audit inspection forms, plans, and other documents for adherence to regulations.
  • Participate in industry meetings, conferences, and training, and may be invited to serve on boards or committees of industry organizations.
  • Assist in the development and management of environmental compliance systems.
  • Exemplify and promote NorthStar's commitment to compliance and safety at all times.
  • This position requires travel primarily within Alaska, Washington, and California, with occasional travel to other locations.
  • Support the Director of Environmental Affairs with special projects and ad hoc requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in environmental compliance, consulting, waste management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with regulations in Alaska, Washington, and California; fuel storage facilities; multi-media compliance; and spill management is highly advantageous.
