Position Overview:

The Director of the Proteomics Core is responsible for managing the daily functions of the Proteomics Core facility. This role includes overseeing a variety of scientific, operational, and financial aspects of the Core. The Director acts as a key scientific and technical resource in proteomics for the Institute's researchers, collaborating closely with the Scientific Director for scientific input and the VP of Scientific Resources for operational direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the daily operations of the Core facility, which includes project design, scheduling, tracking of samples and processes, quality assessment of results, troubleshooting of instruments, and billing for services rendered.
  2. Create and implement standard operating procedures, establish metrics for quality evaluation, and monitor the quality of proteomics services provided.
  3. Develop and apply data analysis tools for proteomics to improve data mining and interpretation capabilities.
  4. Conduct sample processing utilizing (2D)LC-MS/MS and deliver comprehensive proteomics data analysis, including advanced statistical data mining with R Bioconductor packages.
  5. Collaborate with faculty, staff scientists, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students to support their research projects, and work with other Core facilities for interdisciplinary initiatives.
  6. Assist in the preparation of grant proposals, and track publications and grants that are facilitated by the Core's resources and services.
  7. Assess, implement, and refine proteomics protocols, technologies, and applications to enhance service delivery.
  8. Ensure equitable access to Core services, provide technical training, promote the Core's resources, manage equipment maintenance, and oversee the Core's budget.
  9. Collaborate with the Associate Director and VP to maintain the financial viability of the Core.
  10. Utilize the iLab Core management system to enhance workflow, track projects, and analyze financial data.
  11. Ensure that emergency backup systems are functional and serve as a primary contact for infrastructure and equipment emergencies.

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in biological sciences or a related discipline is required, along with substantial postdoctoral experience in Proteomics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Supervisory Role:

This position includes supervisory responsibilities over other personnel.

Compensation:

The anticipated salary range for this position is between $114,000 and $142,000 annually.
