We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated expert in proteomics and glycoproteomics to become a vital member of our collaborative team. Ideal candidates will possess a robust background in mass spectrometry-based proteomic and glycoproteomic data management and will receive training in bioinformatics for data interpretation in partnership with faculty specialists.

The initial focus for the successful candidate will involve grant-related projects aimed at elucidating the molecular underpinnings of various diseases. This role will require collaboration within a multi-disciplinary environment, conducting proteomic, glycomic, and glycoproteomic analyses while utilizing state-of-the-art equipment at our Proteomics Core Facility, including automated sample preparation systems and advanced Orbitrap instruments. Opportunities for independent research and publication will be available to foster career growth. You will oversee multiple glycoproteomics projects, managing sample preparation, data analysis, and interpretation. A key responsibility will be to develop, organize, and maintain a glycoproteomic database aimed at uncovering the origins and pathogenesis of numerous diseases. Additionally, metabolic labeling with stable isotope-tagged monosaccharides will be employed to investigate various congenital disorders of glycosylation (CDG).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and conduct proteomic and glycoproteomic experiments.
  • Analyze and interpret mass spectrometry data from proteomic and glycoproteomic studies using advanced bioinformatics workflows.
  • Assist in the upkeep and troubleshooting of LC-MS instruments, ensuring rigorous quality control.
  • Coordinate data collection and integration across diverse experimental setups.
  • Collaborate with various laboratories to design and execute projects aimed at assessing changes in protein levels and glycosylation during disease progression.
  • Prepare reports, co-author scientific publications, and present findings at conferences.
  • Support fellow researchers in disseminating research outcomes.
Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in biological sciences, chemistry, or analytical chemistry, with a minimum of three years of experience in proteomics or glycoproteomics.
  • Proficient in the operation and maintenance of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry systems, particularly Thermo Orbitraps.
  • Extensive experience in complex sample preparation for mass spectrometry applications.
  • Solid background in quantitative mass spectrometry techniques for glycoproteomic, glycomic, and proteomic analyses, along with hands-on experience with computational tools for data analysis.
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics platforms for data analysis across various physiological systems, with additional training provided.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of modern molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, including chromatography and immunoprecipitation.
  • Knowledge of Top-Down proteomics and its analytical methods.
  • Advanced skills in R programming, including RShiny applications.
  • Basic understanding of R programming.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and positively within a team environment.
Compensation:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $71,000 - $110,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
