With over four decades of impactful research in cancer, neuroscience, immunology, and pediatric diseases, our institute is supported by an NCI-designated cancer center and advanced drug discovery capabilities.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated expert in proteomics and glycoproteomics to become a vital member of our collaborative and nurturing team. Ideal candidates will possess extensive experience in mass spectrometry-based proteomic and glycoproteomic data acquisition and management, with additional training provided in bioinformatics for data interpretation in collaboration with faculty specialists.

The successful candidate will initially focus on projects funded by grants aimed at elucidating the molecular foundations of various diseases. This role involves working within a multi-disciplinary team to conduct proteomic, glycomic, and glycoproteomic analyses, utilizing cutting-edge instrumentation available at our Proteomics Core Facility, including automated sample preparation systems and Orbitrap mass spectrometers. Opportunities for independent research and publication will be available to support career advancement. You will oversee multiple glycoproteomics projects, encompassing sample preparation, data analysis, and interpretation. Additionally, you will play a key role in developing, organizing, curating, and maintaining a glycoproteomic database that aids in identifying the origins and pathogenesis of numerous diseases. Metabolic labeling using stable isotope-tagged monosaccharides will also be employed to investigate various congenital disorders of glycosylation (CDG).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement proteomic and glycoproteomic experiments.
  • Analyze and interpret mass spectrometry data from proteomic and glycoproteomic studies using advanced bioinformatics workflows.
  • Assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry systems, ensuring rigorous quality control.
  • Coordinate data collection and integration across diverse experimental setups.
  • Collaborate with various laboratories to design and execute projects focused on changes in protein abundance and glycosylation during disease progression.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, co-author scientific publications, and present findings at conferences and meetings. Contribute data to grant proposals.
  • Support fellow researchers in the publication of their research outcomes.
Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in biological sciences, chemistry, or analytical chemistry, with a minimum of three years of experience in proteomics or glycoproteomics.
  • Proficient in the operation and maintenance of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry systems, particularly Thermo Orbitraps.
  • Extensive experience in complex sample preparation for mass spectrometry workflows.
  • Strong background in quantitative mass spectrometry-based strategies for glycoproteomic, glycomic, and proteomic analyses, along with hands-on experience using computational tools for proteomics data analysis such as Byonic, pGlyco, MSFragger, MaxQuant, ProteomeDiscoverer, Spectromine, Spectronaut, or DIA-NN.
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics platforms for data analysis across physiological systems, with additional training available.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Solid understanding of modern molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, including chromatography, transfection, Western blotting, and immunoprecipitation.
  • Knowledge of Top-Down proteomics and associated data analysis techniques.
  • Advanced skills in R programming, including the development of RShiny applications.
  • Basic understanding of R programming.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work positively and collaboratively as part of a team.
Compensation:
