Job Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Mathematics Teacher to join our team at a charter public school in Westampton, NJ.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an approved education program and establishing a class environment that fosters learning and personal growth. They will help pupils develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continued education, while maintaining good relationships with parents/guardians and other staff members.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans and instructional materials to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
  2. Assess pupil academic progress and personal growth toward stated objectives of instruction through Unit Assessments.
  3. Maintain records of pupil's educational progress in class record books/electronic-digital grade books/parent portal and/or Board approved forms and, summarize these marks for reporting purposes.
  4. Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and resolving learning problems.
  5. Work cooperatively with special education and resource teachers to modify curricula pace and delivery as needed for special needs students.
  6. Devises written and oral assignments and tests and other related assessments to include appropriate integration of technology that require analytical and critical thinking as well as the utilization/recall of facts and appropriate data.
  7. Plans class activities/labs and lesson presentations that are appropriate for the class grade level and meet the individual needs, interests and ability levels of all pupils.
  8. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to inform them about the school program and to discuss pupil progress.
  9. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning.
  10. Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities as assigned.
  11. Budgets class time effectively.
  12. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive subject/program related displays and bulletin boards.
  13. Maintains professional appearance, competence and continuous improvement through in-service education and other professional growth activities.
  14. Participates in school-level planning, faculty meetings/committees and other school system groups.
  15. Makes effective use of community resources to enhance the instructional program.
  16. Upholds and enforces school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy.
  17. Meets professional responsibilities and maintains a professional relationship of all school staff based on the principles of integrity.
  18. Performs other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned.

Requirements:

  1. Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate and Subject Area Endorsement or eligibility.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods.
  3. Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  5. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in use of educationally appropriate technology.
  6. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
