Job Title: Middle School Science Teacher

Job Summary:

Focused Staffing Group is seeking a qualified Science Teacher to join our team at a charter public school in New Jersey. As a Science Teacher, you will be responsible for providing an approved education program and establishing a class environment that fosters learning and personal growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans and instructional materials to adapt to the needs of each pupil.
  • Assess pupil academic progress and personal growth toward stated objectives of instruction.
  • Maintain records of pupil's educational progress and summarize these marks for reporting purposes.
  • Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and resolving learning problems.
  • Work cooperatively with special education and resource teachers to modify curricula pace and delivery as needed for special needs students.
  • Devises written and oral assignments and tests and other related assessments to include appropriate integration of technology.
  • Plan class activities/labs and lesson presentations that are appropriate for the class grade level and meet the individual needs, interests and ability levels of all pupils.
  • Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to inform them about the school program and to discuss pupil progress.
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning.
  • Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities as assigned.
  • Budgets class time effectively.
  • Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive subject/program related displays and bulletin boards.
  • Maintains professional appearance, competence and continuous improvement through in-service education and other professional growth activities.
  • Participates in school-level planning, faculty meetings/committees and other school system groups.
  • Makes effective use of community resources to enhance the instructional program.
  • Upholds and enforces school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy.
  • Meets professional responsibilities and maintains a professional relationship of all school staff based on the principles of integrity.
  • Performs other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned.

Requirements:

  • Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate and Subject Area Endorsement or eligibility.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods.
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in use of educationally appropriate technology.
  • Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

Work Environment:

This is a full-time position at a charter public school in New Jersey.
