Heartland Women's Healthcare is seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Specialist to join our clinical and laboratory team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting laboratory specimens and reporting results in accordance with laboratory and clinic procedures and protocols. The Phlebotomy Specialist will work out of both our Shiloh and Waterloo locations, providing excellent customer service to patients and clinic personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and process laboratory specimens, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of results.
  • Administer oral solutions as required by laboratory and clinic procedures.
  • Ensure patient identification information matches test request information consistently.
  • Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Process billing and insurance information.
  • Maintain patient and specimen information logs.
  • Provide superior customer service to patients and clinic personnel.
  • Assist with the proper storage of hazardous materials and maintain inventory of reagents and supplies.
  • Perform non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitization, filing, and answering phone calls.
  • Maintain phlebotomy logs and ensure compliance with licensing and accrediting standards and regulations.
  • Read, understand, and comply with company, laboratory, and clinic policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Phlebotomy certification.
  • 1 year of phlebotomy experience.
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to draw blood utilizing sterile needles, vacutainer tubes, and other collection containers.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent competency with computer navigation and data entry.
