Phlebotomist Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect blood and other specimens from patients using various techniques, including venipuncture and capillary puncture.
  • Identify and label specimens correctly to ensure accurate testing and diagnosis.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience.
  • Participate in the instruction of new personnel and enhance professional growth and development through in-service meetings and education programs.
  • Perform EKG, Holter Monitor, and Spirometry procedures as needed.
Requirements:
  • Certification from an accredited phlebotomy diploma program.
  • 1+ years of phlebotomy experience (additional education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement).
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques, container and minimum volume requirements, and technical correctness of EKG and spirometry printouts.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a team member, balancing the support of physicians and following financial policies.
