JOB SUMMARY:
As a Precision Tool Fabricator, you will construct tooling and prototypes in accordance with detailed specifications for use in assembly operations. This role involves the operation of various hand and power tools, general assembly of machinery, and the fabrication or modification of components. You will also troubleshoot and identify issues with equipment and tooling, working under the guidance of the department manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engage in creative problem-solving sessions to develop innovative solutions for challenges faced by the organization.
- Review specifications, including blueprints and models, to determine tooling requirements.
- Utilize CAD software, preferably AutoCAD or SolidWorks, to compute dimensions and plan layouts.
- Set up and operate a range of machines, including lathes and grinders, to shape and finish materials to precise specifications.
- Fabricate and weld components to create or assemble tooling parts.
- Align and assemble tooling and machine components, ensuring adherence to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- Repair or modify tools as necessary.
- Research and design assembly processes and equipment, applying knowledge of product design and materials.
- Test and calibrate components to ensure they meet required tolerances and specifications.
- Track the progress of assigned projects, including outsourced and in-house components.
- Collaborate with customers and vendors as needed.
- Provide comprehensive written input for design reviews and specifications.
- Maintain clear communication with the Shop Manager regarding project status.
- Continuously iterate designs to meet acceptance criteria.
- Share best practices to foster continuous improvement across the organization.
- Promote a safe working environment by adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Lead problem-solving initiatives to address quality issues effectively.
- Maintain organized design records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Complete all required documentation promptly.
- Assist in managing inventory levels of components and materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in prototype, tooling, or machine building within the automotive sector.
- Pneumatic or electrical experience is advantageous.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Solid understanding of assembly processes and operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in CAD systems, particularly SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read blueprints and assemble tooling accurately.

EXPERIENCE WITH POWER TOOLS:
- Proficient in using various power tools, including drills, grinders, and welders.
- Skilled in welding, machining, and general assembly tasks.
- Capable of interpreting existing prints and adapting them to reflect actual conditions.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues during the building process.
- Must maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Strong communication skills to convey complex job-related information.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
