JOB SUMMARY:
As a key member of our team, you will construct tooling and related prototypes in accordance with precise specifications for use in assembly operations. Your role will involve the operation of both hand and power tools, general assembly of machinery, and the fabrication or modification of components. You will also troubleshoot and identify issues with equipment and tooling, all while working under the guidance of the department manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engage in collaborative brainstorming sessions to devise innovative solutions to complex challenges.
- Review specifications such as blueprints and MBD models to determine tooling requirements.
- Utilize software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks to assist in the design process.
- Calculate dimensions, plan layouts, and establish the sequence of operations for assembly.
- Set up and operate various machines (including lathes, Bridgeport mills, and grinders) to cut, shape, and finish materials to exact specifications.
- Fabricate and weld components to create or assemble tooling parts.
- Align and assemble tooling and machine components, ensuring compliance with specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- Repair or modify tools as necessary.
- Conduct research and development to enhance assembly processes and equipment, leveraging knowledge of product design and fabrication.
- Test and calibrate components to meet stringent tolerances and specifications.
- Identify and address units that do not meet testing standards.
- Maintain communication with customers and vendors as required.
- Document design records and update the design database to ensure accurate information flow.
- Promote safety and cleanliness in the workplace by adhering to established procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in prototype, tooling, or machine building, preferably within the automotive sector.
- Experience with pneumatic or electrical systems is advantageous.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Solid understanding of assembly processes and operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex issues.
- Proficiency in CAD systems, particularly SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read blueprints and assemble tooling accordingly.
- Experience with various power tools and machinery, including MIG and TIG welding.
- Capable of improvising and constructing tooling based on verbal instructions or sketches.
- Strong communication skills to relay intricate job-related information.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining a positive attitude.
