Our services include early childhood education, youth mentorship, employment services, and cultural events, all aimed at achieving long-term educational and financial goals.

Program Overview:

The Children and Family Services programs encompass Head Start, Early Head Start, State Pre-Kindergarten, Home-Based Services, and Developmental Play Groups. We serve over 900 children and their families, providing developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive services across multiple centers.

Position Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Center Director, the Floater Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality care to preschool-aged children and infants in a nurturing educational environment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing scheduled breaks for classroom teachers;
  • Substituting as a teacher when necessary, including during preparation periods;
  • Filling in for extended teacher absences and completing necessary documentation;
  • Assisting in the implementation of daily activities tailored to children's interests;
  • Maintaining professional relationships with families;
  • Utilizing classroom materials to foster an engaging and developmentally appropriate environment;
  • Ensuring a safe and healthy classroom in compliance with regulations;
  • Participating in regular staff meetings;
  • Completing a minimum of 21 hours of professional development annually;
  • Supporting daily sanitation and health protocols;
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a multicultural team;
  • A compassionate approach to working with children and families;
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish/English or another Asian language preferred;
  • Knowledge of safe lifting techniques and preventive health measures.

Requirements:

  • Preferred: Associate Teacher Permit or Assistant Teacher Permit with enrollment in coursework for an Associate Teacher Permit;
  • 6-12 units in Early Childhood Education, including core courses;
  • 6 Infant/Toddler units preferred or willingness to obtain within the first year.

Physical Requirements:

Must be capable of climbing stairs, lifting 20-30 pounds, and performing various physical activities related to childcare.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Physical examination;
  • TB test;
  • Background check;
  • Vaccinations for MMR, Tdap, and Covid-19;
  • CPR certification;
  • Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training.
