Rise Aftercare Group Leader Job Description

The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Rise Aftercare Group Leader. This position is responsible for supervising the well-being of a group of assigned children ages 6 months to 6 years, providing a safe and nurturing environment that promotes their physical, emotional, and social development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Coordinator in operating the afterschool program, adhering to TDFPS standards and YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas policies and procedures.
  • Engage in activities with participants, including physical activity, enrichment activities, and arts and crafts projects.
  • Supervise the group of afterschool participants, maintaining their health and well-being.
  • Assist in maintaining and inventorying supplies needed for the program.
  • Report any incidents or suspected child abuse to the Rise Aftercare Coordinator or Rise School Director.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings, trainings, and other meetings as required.
  • Assist with program set-up and clean-up, ensuring compliance with school contracted guidelines.
  • Participate in drills to practice site-evacuation/emergency procedures.
Requirements:
  1. Minimum age: 18 years old.
  2. High School Degree or higher.
  3. 6 months of previous experience in a licensed childcare center or completion of an 8-hour Pre-service orientation in components outlined by The Department of Family and Protective Services.
  4. Ability to work with children and peers.
  5. Leadership and supervisory skills.
  6. Basic appreciation and understanding of group management and child development.
  7. Ability to follow and execute schedules and activity plans.
  8. Imagination, patience, conviction, sincerity, enthusiasm, initiative, self-control, adaptability, willingness to learn, integrity, and ingenuity.
  9. Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. for distances up to 100 yards.
