Financial Operations Manager, Generative AI

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is on the lookout for a Financial Operations Manager to play a pivotal role within the AWS Generative AI division. This position will encompass comprehensive financial oversight, including P&L management and strategic planning for Generative AI offerings. The successful candidate will also spearhead the launch of innovative Generative AI features and implement process enhancements throughout the organization.

The ideal applicant will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, adeptly manage multiple time-sensitive projects within a complex organizational structure, and effectively navigate risks and opportunities. Strong business partnership capabilities and the ability to collaborate with key stakeholders are essential.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead financial planning initiatives; develop intricate financial models and analytical tools to assess overall financial performance.
  • Oversee the end-to-end management of Generative AI services, influencing business decisions that drive revenue and capital expenditures.
  • Support the launch of strategic new Generative AI features and respond to various requests from finance and business leadership.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency enhancements, including automation and coordination with both upstream and downstream teams.
  • Collaborate with finance teams across AWS to standardize, streamline, and prioritize improvements, eliminate obstacles, and enhance the reliability and efficiency of reporting.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical field.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical discipline, or a Bachelor's degree coupled with 5+ years of experience in a quantitative role.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, diagnosing root causes, and developing/implementing escalation plans.
  • 6+ years of experience in resolving complex business challenges through accurate and timely financial models, analyses, and recommendations that yield measurable business impacts.
  • MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Experience with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
  • Proficiency in delivering forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and interpreting data results.
  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL processes.
  • 6+ years of experience in constructing financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making.
  • 6+ years of experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses.
  • 6+ years of experience participating in continuous improvement projects to enhance controllership with measurable outcomes.
