Job Summary:

Metallics, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for implementing and managing environmental, health, and safety programs, as well as developing and recommending specific environmental health and safety-related programs and activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with company and government regulations.
  • Oversee the wastewater treatment facility and ensure proper licenses, certifications, and permits are obtained and maintained.
  • Complete and maintain regulatory compliance documentation as requested by customers.
  • Stay up-to-date with new EHS developments by attending courses and maintaining contact with regulatory agencies.
  • Assist, train, and educate plant management and employees on good environmental, health, and safety practices.
  • Monitor and address safety activities and concerns in the plant environment.
  • Develop a strong and reputable relationship with all employees.
  • Evaluate usage and storage of chemicals, inks, and solvents.
  • Perform or coordinate tests for air quality, water quality, noise, and other pollutants as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • At least four years of work experience in Environmental, Health & Safety or a similar field.
  • Ability to work with OSHA, DNR, EPA, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to address multiple, complex projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify EHS problems, secure relevant information, identify possible causes, and suggest possible solutions.
  • Knowledge of company policies and government regulations pertaining to EHS issues.
  • Knowledge of plant processes, equipment, positions, and generally accepted industrial practices.
  • Ability to make timely and effective decisions.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and various environmental software programs.

The physical demands and work environment described below are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • This position is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must be able to keep a calm disposition under stress.
  • Generally works in an office setting but will be required to spend time each day inside a plant environment which will expose this position to moving mechanical parts, vehicular traffic, ink and chemical exposure, and loud noise levels.
