The Earth and Planets Laboratory (EPL), part of the Carnegie Institution for Science, is seeking applications for postdoctoral research fellowships. These positions are based at our Washington, DC campus and offer a chance to engage in innovative research across various scientific disciplines.

We provide multiple independent research fellowships in our interdisciplinary laboratory, which encompasses a broad spectrum of fields. Our scientists conduct observational, experimental, and theoretical studies in areas such as astronomy, cosmochemistry, data science, experimental petrology, geobiology, geochemistry, geodynamics, geophysics, mineral physics, planetary science, and the physics and chemistry of materials under extreme conditions.

New fellows will become part of a collaborative community consisting of approximately 25 postdoctoral researchers and 30 staff and research scientists dedicated to exploring the origins and evolution of Earth and other planetary bodies. Qualifications

Applicants are required to hold a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline at the commencement of the fellowship. The selection process emphasizes research achievements, potential for future contributions, originality and feasibility of the proposed research, independence, and alignment with the scientific objectives at EPL.
