About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Winding Assembler to join our team at Siemens Energy in Charlotte, NC, USA. As a Winding Assembler, you will play a critical role in the final finishing of transformer windings and the assembly of winding blocks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform final finishing of transformer windings and assembly of winding blocks
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and work plans
  • Validate alignment of windings within required tolerances and perform corrections as needed
  • Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and perform welding when necessary
  • Prepare final winding block for drying and pressing processes
  • Perform measurements and quality inspections for winding blocks, including reviewing tolerances in accordance with technical requirements
  • Support development and maintenance of technical instructions for winding assembly procedures
  • Train and mentor new hires in the department
  • Plan and review tasks to be carried out according to pre-established production plan and manufacturing standards
  • Ensure compliance with all protocols, policies, guidelines, and competences from current systems (EHS, QA, CyberSec, etc.)
Requirements
  • High school degree or equivalent with relevant technical training/experience
  • Preferably at least 2 years of experience in winding block assembly process for transformers
  • Ability to use math, read and interpret complex drawings, and perform complex measurements
  • Ability to obtain Keys certification test on reading and writing and Blueprint reading test offered by local community college
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Forklift License and Critical Lift level crane license and certification for working in heights
  • Ability to effectively communicate and demonstrate leadership qualities to eventually become a trainer/mentor for new hires in the future
  • Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa
Additional Requirements
  • Successful applicants must be able to pass standard hearing, vision, and pulmonary function tests
  • Must be able to read, write, understand, and follow verbal and/or written instructions in English
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
  • Must be willing to relocate temporarily to Mexico or Brazil for on-the-job training for a period of 6 months or more based on proficiency in the area of training
