SUMMARY:

The Vehicle Service Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring that all assigned emergency medical service (EMS) vehicles are fully equipped and ready for operation upon the arrival of the EMS personnel. This position involves maintaining the cleanliness and overall upkeep of the facilities, equipment, and vehicles. Additionally, the VST supports the Materials Coordinator in daily warehouse operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Thoroughly wash and stock company vehicles to maintain high standards.
  • Disinfect and maintain reusable EMS equipment to ensure safety and hygiene.
  • Oversee vehicle supply inventory to meet regulatory standards; complete and maintain verification checklists.
  • Transport vehicles as required for operational efficiency.
  • Keep work areas, offices, and restrooms clean, and manage waste disposal effectively.
  • Conduct inspections of facilities and assist with minor maintenance tasks.
  • Report any equipment damage or unsafe conditions observed during inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations regarding controlled substances.
  • Execute all tasks in alignment with established financial and operational objectives.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Certified Driver's License.
  • Experience in warehouse or supply inventory management is preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read and comprehend English, including medical terminology.
  • Proficient in writing reports and completing checklists.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Competent in using personal computers and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with asset control and materials management is advantageous.
  • Ability to manage inventory shipping and receiving processes.
  • Knowledge of EMS equipment and medical supplies is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This role requires regular use of hands for handling, reaching, and communication. Frequent standing and walking are necessary, with occasional sitting, climbing, or crouching. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 85 pounds regularly and up to 160 pounds occasionally with assistance. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Due to the nature of EMS operations, employees may encounter adverse weather conditions and potential hazards. The work environment may involve frequent interruptions and high-pressure situations with changing deadlines. Occasional travel and attendance at meetings outside of regular hours may be required.
