Your Opportunity

This role will work on smaller projects, collaborating with senior engineers and designers to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products. You will perform a variety of tasks, including calculations, field work, coordination of tasks, and meeting attendance and recording.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform civil engineering design, including engineering drawings, hydraulic system calculations, pipe design calculations, engineering reports, design criteria, and prepare applications for regulatory agencies.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering project documents, client presentations, client contact and communication pertaining to specific project deliverables.
  • Attend and assist in client, contractor, stakeholder, and regulatory agency meetings to gain a better understanding of client's goals, project requirements, site assessments, key challenges, coordination.
  • Assist in the development of design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Recognize when technical problems are developing and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
  • Assist with the development of job-specific discipline specifications.
  • Assist in the review of shop drawings and submittals, respond to requests for information, prepare site observation reports, and perform other contract administration tasks.
  • Assist in the evaluation and selection of civil systems and materials.
  • Participate in value engineering and basic cost estimating.
Qualifications
  • General understanding of concepts of relevant areas of civil engineering design, sanitary and water system engineering design including gravity and pressure systems, unit processes for both wastewater and water treatment, and geotechnical survey.
  • Understanding of all phases of engineering document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Working knowledge of codes, legal, and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions and developing jurisdictional experience and contacts.
  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team settings and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, and other similar material.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, as well as relevant discipline software programs, which may include AutoCAD Civil3D, PCSWMM, StormCAD, WaterCAD, (or other modeling software).
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
  • Licensed PE.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience.
Work Environment

This role will be based in the United States, with occasional travel required. The typical office environment will involve working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather.
