Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our Honolulu office. As part of the Civil Group, the successful candidate will assist in managing projects from design conception through construction close out on a wide variety of project types, including port/marina infrastructure, roadways, buildings, airports, bridges, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing multi-discipline project design teams for projects across the Pacific, including subconsultants, and establish priorities, schedules, and scope of work
  • Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of multidiscipline projects with varying degrees of technical complexity
  • Prepare and review engineering scopes of work and budgets/estimates for proposals and track budget and schedule status throughout the course of each project
  • Monitor scope of work and scope changes
  • Interface with clients as needed for successful project delivery
  • Communicate with staff and subconsultants to establish work priorities for projects
  • Complete construction projects by preparing engineering design and documents and confirming specifications
  • Design construction projects by studying project concept, architectural drawings, and models
  • Determine project costs by calculating labor, material, and related costs
  • Create feasibility studies by analyzing engineering design, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data
  • Produce engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans, and schedules
  • Confirm adherence to construction specifications and safety standards by monitoring project progress, inspecting construction sites, and verifying calculations and placements
  • Fulfill project requirements by training and guiding operators
  • Maintain operations by enforcing project and operational policies and procedures
  • Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions
  • Maintain project databases by writing computer programs, entering data, and completing backups
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Civil Engineering from an accredited university degree program
  • 6+ years of experience as a Civil Engineer
  • Competence in general civil engineering design, including roadway, paving, grading, drainage, H&H, water, and sanitary sewer
  • Ability to plan, schedule work, and complete work assignments within established budgets and timelines
  • Software proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Availability and willingness to travel
What We Offer

Moffatt & Nichol offers a competitive base salary range of $104,560 to $127,796 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualifications in the job description. This range is only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the Hawaii markets.
