Position Details:

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This role involves leading organization-wide initiatives focused on pressure ulcer prevention, wound management, and ostomy care. Responsibilities include supporting data collection on pressure ulcer prevalence, developing evidence-based policies and procedures, and advising on suitable support surfaces and products.

You will design and implement educational programs and clinical training for Emory Healthcare staff and students enrolled in Emory University's Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program.

The position provides advanced clinical support to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture control, and pressure ulcers.

You will assess nursing interventions for identified patient issues, symptoms, and educational needs related to wound and ostomy care.

Recommendations for necessary equipment, materials, and resources to effectively execute a wound or ostomy care plan will be part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will perform pre-operative stoma site marking and provide ostomy education. Post-operative ostomy education and care planning for patients and their families will also be required.

Other related responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.
- Two years of recent Registered Nursing experience.
- Completion of an accredited Wound Ostomy Care Nursing Education program.
- Certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care must be achieved within 12 months.
- Certification in Continence Care is preferred but not mandatory.
- Previous experience in Wound and Ostomy care is advantageous.
- BLS certification is required; ACLS may be necessary in certain units.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Medium physical demands include lifting 20-50 lbs occasionally, 11-25 lbs frequently, and 1-10 lbs constantly. Responsibilities involve standing and walking frequently, occasional sitting, and close visual work (computers, typing, reading, writing). Physical demands may vary based on assigned work area and tasks.
