Educational Background and Experience Requirements
A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory. A minimum of four (4) years of experience in the avionics or electrical field is required, or alternatively, two (2) years of accredited education in aviation electronics coupled with two (2) years of relevant experience. An A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) license is preferred, along with other certifications such as FCC and NCATT. Role Objective: Provides specialized knowledge in evaluating aircraft systems, diagnosing issues, and rectifying discrepancies to minimize schedule disruptions. Exhibits technical proficiency by implementing procedural enhancements to lower costs while adhering to safety and quality standards. May assume responsibilities of the Senior Avionics/Electrical Technician to uphold the company's commitment to safety and quality while following daily operational plans to meet scheduling needs.
Job Responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities:Essential Functions:
- Exhibits technical acumen and proficiency in avionics and aircraft systems testing and troubleshooting.
- Conducts the installation and functional testing of electrical and avionics components and systems on aircraft according to engineering specifications, drawings, and maintenance guidelines to ensure a flawless system.
- Guarantees the quality and efficiency of all installations: analyzes processes to provide prompt, high-quality repairs of malfunctioning systems.
- Demonstrates the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively repair or replace defective components and wiring, ensuring installations comply with standards. Employs effective repair techniques including splicing, soldering, and pinning of wiring.
- Executes and adheres to engineering modifications and changes as required.
- Prepares and operates essential testing equipment. Conducts functional and operational evaluations to assess performance and reliability.
- Ensures that all work performed on the aircraft is thoroughly documented and prepared for inspection.
- Tests and maintains testing equipment, electronic systems, and components.
- Adheres to the company's FOD program, tool control program, 5-S program, and all safety regulations.
- Adjusts to unexpected schedule modifications.
- 1. In support of aircraft certification and final phase testing, may involve flight tests on aircraft as necessary.
- Preferred proficiency in the operation and troubleshooting of other aircraft systems or disciplines beyond avionics, such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controls, or structural installations and repairs.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematic diagrams.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, capable of effective verbal and written communication.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds.
