SUMMARY

The Produce Selection Specialist is tasked with efficiently gathering fresh produce and assembling pallets for our clientele. The position is set within a spacious warehouse environment, predominantly during evening and night shifts, and involves working in refrigerated storage areas. With over 35 years in the organic produce industry, we value long-term employment and are committed to nurturing our staff's growth within the sector.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize scanning devices and relevant software for the order selection process.
  • Retrieve products from various storage locations, ensuring careful handling to prevent damage.
  • Inspect items to confirm they meet quality standards.
  • Count completed orders to verify fulfillment.
  • Wrap, label, and tag pallets accurately.
  • Operate machinery involved in the order picking process or assist machine operators as necessary.
  • Load delivery vehicles in accordance with company protocols.
  • Maintain equipment in line with company standards.
  • Achieve a minimum productivity rate of 90 pieces per hour.
  • Maintain an accuracy rate of 98% based on transaction evaluations.
  • Adhere to all company performance standards.
  • Monitor equipment functionality to identify and report malfunctions.
  • Ensure safety practices are consistently followed.
  • Wear appropriate safety gear at all times.
  • Exhibit punctuality and maintain reliable attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education and Experience: A minimum of a high school diploma is preferred. At least one year of relevant experience in a warehouse or logistics setting is required, with knowledge of produce varieties being advantageous.
  • Language Skills: Strong communication skills are essential, including proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal interactions with colleagues, customers, and suppliers. Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish, are a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and warehouse inventory management software.
  • Reasoning Ability: Capability to think independently and resolve practical issues in various situations without predefined guidelines.
  • Equipment Operation: Ability to operate equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Other Skills: Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and holidays. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are critical. Ability to work collaboratively with others and maintain a positive, professional demeanor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent physical activities include bending, lifting, pushing, and reaching.
  • Regular standing and walking are necessary.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs frequently, and occasionally over 50 lbs.
  • Visual acuity for detailed tasks and computer use is required.
