Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Engineering Supervisor to join our team at Renown Health. As a key member of our Clinical Engineering department, you will be responsible for planning and supervising the activities of Clinical Engineering personnel, monitoring their work, and taking corrective actions when necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise Clinical Engineering personnel duties, including staffing, conflict management, disciplinary procedures, and performance development plans.
  • Ensure department and/or team practices are in compliance with state and federal labor laws, including ADA, EEOC, FMLA, and NLRA.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection, retention, and termination of employees.
  • Conduct performance evaluations of Clinical Engineering department personnel.
  • Evaluate key risks associated with the use of medical equipment, including patient safety, operations, finance, and emergency preparedness.
  • Assure integrity of data collection, storage, and security associated with healthcare technology, including HIPAA, EKG management, and EMR.
  • Recommend processes, procedures, or policies to control or reduce risk.
  • Participate in incident investigations and produce reports outlining findings, explaining risk positions, or recommending changes.
  • Ensure recalls, hazards, and safety advisories related to healthcare technology are resolved in an appropriate manner.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of Clinical Engineering personnel training programs.
  • Conduct orientation sessions and on-the-job training for personnel.
  • Assure availability of training manuals, including service manuals, operator manuals, training media, and other educational materials.
  • Collaborate with clinical departments on medical equipment-related training, including MRI and radiation safety, equipment use, and use-error trending.
  • Collaborate with non-clinical departments on healthcare technology training, including infection prevention, environmental services, and supply chain.
  • Provide input during financial planning, budgeting, and procurement activities for the Clinical Engineering department, including capital planning, technology planning, reporting, billing, payroll, and budgeting.
  • Review sourcing options for parts, service, training, and test equipment/tools.
  • Perform service activities on medical equipment as needed.
Requirements
  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, biomedical technology, electronics engineering technology, a related healthcare discipline, information technology, or business.
  • Seven years of experience in biomedical/clinical engineering, with at least five years related to diagnostic imaging equipment, including at least one of the following modalities: MRI, CT, X-Ray, Ultrasound, and Nuclear Medicine.
  • Three years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Valid State of Nevada or California Driver's license and ability to pass Renown Health's Department of Motor Vehicle Report criteria.
  • CBET or CRES certification preferred.
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
