Lead Electrical Power Systems Engineer

Arconic is seeking a Lead Electrical Power Systems Engineer to become an integral part of our team within the Global Rolled Products (GRP) division.

The Lead Electrical Power Systems Engineer will take charge of project leadership and management, focusing on the engineering, design, procurement, construction, and implementation of systems and equipment aimed at enhancing energy efficiency and electrical distribution. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing innovative strategies for energy efficiency in alignment with organizational energy reduction goals.
  • Executing projects that enhance reliability and mitigate risks within the electrical distribution framework.
  • Overseeing project budgets and ensuring timely delivery of project milestones, culminating in comprehensive project closure reports.

Additional responsibilities encompass:

  • Managing capital projects with budgets exceeding $1 million from inception to completion.
  • Ensuring compliance with Arconic engineering standards based on NEC/NFPA/IEEE regulations.
  • Coordinating with designers, maintenance teams, and external contractors during construction phases and electrical outages, addressing operational challenges as they arise.
  • Leading recovery efforts during electrical outages, including failure analysis and problem-solving initiatives.
  • Providing technical leadership and support for major capital projects that impact energy efficiency and the electrical distribution network.
  • Identifying energy efficiency initiatives and collaborating with local power companies to secure available rebates.
  • Conducting arc flash and short circuit studies as per established standards and addressing identified issues through capital or expense measures.

This role primarily operates during standard business hours; however, flexibility to work off-hours or weekends may be necessary to support ongoing operations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • At least 3 years of project management experience, with proficiency in defining scope, specifications, and technical designs.
  • Fundamental understanding of medium voltage power distribution.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; verification of employment eligibility will be conducted at the time of hire.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), requiring U.S. person status.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 7 or more years of demonstrated expertise in executing power distribution projects.
  • Experience with power modeling software, including arc flash and short circuit studies.
  • Technical knowledge of switchgear, MCCs, transfer switches, switch yards, generator sets, UPS, transformers, and power control systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
