Job Summary

The Benefits Consulting Director will be a seasoned benefits professional with expertise in health & welfare, retirement plan, and wellbeing benefits. They will lead large benefit plan initiatives to drive strategic goals and provide senior-level consulting on complex benefits issues to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive large business-specific and/or corporate-wide benefit projects and initiatives, ensuring adherence to strategic goals, corporate benefit policies, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Identify, recommend, develop, and implement benefit programs, processes, guidelines, and policy to address business needs, with overall ownership of retirement, wellbeing, ancillary benefits, and relocation programs.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, including Payroll, Finance, Third Party Risk Management, Legal, Tax, and Compliance, in relation to benefits communication and enhancements, administration, and project management.
  • Develop and maintain vendor and client relationships, serving as a benefit liaison both internally and externally.
  • Consult on or manage the most complex, high-visibility, benefit issues or appeals, making recommendations to management and other external business partners.
  • Develop and provide presentations to the company regarding benefit programs and initiatives.
  • Support the benefits ERISA committees and develop and present meeting materials.
  • Act as a technical expert in specialty areas for internal and external business partners, such as health & welfare, retirement, plan design, ERISA, etc.
  • Direct the design, implementation, administration, and maintenance of benefit platforms and vendors in conjunction with the Senior Benefits Consultant.
  • Monitor and respond to legislative updates, trends, and developments within the benefits space and insurance industry, participating in and/or representing the company at benefit association and industry functions.
  • Develop CNA's benefit plan communication and engagement strategy and oversee CNA's online benefit communication channels and external communications consultant.
Requirements
  • Senior level technical knowledge of benefit theory, practices, and applicable laws.
  • Strong working knowledge of financial theory/concepts, including an understanding of the financial statement and impacts of benefit plans and programs.
  • Strong knowledge of human resources theory, practices, and applicable laws.
  • Ability to design, develop, implement, and communicate benefit plans and programs to support strategic business initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, consulting, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners.
  • Solid influencing, negotiation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships with customers, peers, and other members of management.
  • Expert in administration of existing benefit platforms.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Workday, and other business-related software.
  • Must be results-oriented.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Typically a minimum of 10 years related work experience with demonstrated proficiency in required benefit skills and abilities.
  • Professional designation such as CEBS or CBP preferred.
