Position Overview

The Accountant plays a crucial role in managing the financial operations of the facility. This position encompasses the generation of regular financial reports, upkeep of accounting records, implementation of internal controls, and budgeting aimed at minimizing risks while enhancing the precision of the company's financial disclosures. The Accountant collaborates closely with the Plant Controller to provide analytical support for informed business decisions aligned with corporate objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the accounting department to ensure the prompt and accurate preparation of financial management reports, including internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, and budgets.
  • Manage the disbursement department to guarantee the precise and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, employee expense reports, cash control, and corporate payroll tax compliance.
  • Oversee the accounts receivable department to ensure the accurate management of all accounts receivable aging components, including billings, cash applications, and quarter and year-end closing processes.
  • Administer payroll systems to ensure timely and accurate employee payments, benefits administration, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies, including Federal, State/Provincial, and Municipal/Local income, payroll, and property taxes.
  • Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data, thereby enhancing the company's value.
  • Provide timely and accurate support to the Plant Controller to facilitate financial decision-making.
  • Engage in various special projects and compile diverse reports as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, management, clients, and other stakeholders in a professional manner.
  • Adhere to all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
  • Safeguard assets and ensure the accurate recording of all transactions through robust internal audits and controls.
  • Manage the accuracy and reporting of the perpetual inventory system, ensuring precise cost accounting for all inventory items.
  • Align financial plans with organizational goals.
  • Provide analytical tools to assess company ventures, special projects, programs, capital expenditures, and product costing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Community College diploma in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Proficiency in database applications and administration systems, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Highly motivated, service-oriented individual with keen attention to detail.
  • Enthusiasm for challenges and new initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with good computer skills.

Working Conditions

  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
