Firefighter (Paramedic)

This is a challenging opportunity to join the U.S. Marine Corps as a firefighter (paramedic). As a key member of our emergency response team, you will be responsible for responding to structure fires, operating hydrants, laying hose lines, and performing ladder operations to effect fire suppression.
Responsibilities- Respond to all structure fires and perform assigned firefighting tasks at major warehouse structures, ordinance storage facilities, and other high-risk areas.
- Respond to all emergency alarms involving vehicles, ammunition, gasoline, electrical hazardous materials, brush, and structures.
- Provide advanced patient assessment and treatment for victims of fire, sudden illness, accidental injuries, childbirth, and other medical emergencies.
- Make independent preliminary assessments of patients' conditions and select from a variety of prescribed protocols the one that is most appropriate under the given circumstances.
- Prioritize treatments for patients with multiple problems and employ a variety of established emergency medical techniques, methods, and equipment to ensure safe transportation to the emergency room.
- Detect the presence of potentially hazardous materials to maintain containment and control.
- Maintain care of emergency equipment, such as backboards, suction devices, splints, stretchers, oxygen delivery systems, monitoring equipment, and specialized kits and bags.
- GS-08: One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
- GS-09: One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
