Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Surgical Dental Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preoperative and Postoperative Duties: Assist surgeons during surgery by performing duties such as tissue retraction, intravenous lines, and completing documentation.
  • Verification and Communication: Verify the identity of patients and operative sites, and discuss with surgeons the nature of the surgical procedure, including operative consent and methods of operative exposure.
  • Aseptic Technique: Monitor and maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures.
  • Operative Field Maintenance: Maintain an unobstructed operative field using surgical retractors, sponges, and suctioning and irrigating equipment.
  • Equipment and Supply Management: Determine availability of necessary equipment and supplies for operative procedures.
  • Equipment Inspection and Operation: Obtain and inspect sterile and non-sterile surgical equipment, supplies, and instruments, and operate sterilization devices.
  • Patient Monitoring: Monitor patient intraoperative status.
  • Radiography and Imaging: Obtain dental radiographs and dental imaging.
  • Documentation: Complete patient clinical narratives.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certifications: BLS certification required or the ability to complete within 1 month of hire.
  • Experience: At least one year of related experience preferred.
  • Certifications: DAANCE certification preferred, Licensed dental assistant preferred, Radiology certification preferred.
