The Coordinator of Special Education Processes plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and compliant execution of special education procedures within the district. This position entails overseeing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), managing essential documentation, and providing support to special education personnel, students, and their families. The Coordinator collaborates with various stakeholders to guarantee that the requirements of students with disabilities are fulfilled in alignment with state and federal mandates.

Reports to: Director of Curriculum & Instruction

Key Responsibilities:

IEP Management:

  • Facilitate the creation, execution, and assessment of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Ensure all IEPs adhere to state and federal regulations.
  • Organize and coordinate IEP meetings, ensuring the presence of all necessary team members.

Compliance and Record Keeping:

  • Maintain precise and current special education records and documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to all state and federal special education laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and submit necessary reports and documentation promptly.

Support for Special Education Personnel:

  • Provide guidance and assistance to special education teachers and staff.
  • Aid in the development and execution of instructional strategies and accommodations.
  • Offer professional development and training on special education processes and best practices.

Student and Family Engagement:

  • Act as a liaison between the school, families, and external agencies.
  • Provide support and resources to families of students with disabilities.
  • Address inquiries and concerns from parents and guardians regarding special education services.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work together with general education teachers, administrators, and related service providers to promote student success.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to ensure comprehension and compliance with special education processes.
  • Participate in district and school-level meetings to advocate for the interests of students with disabilities.

Program Assessment and Enhancement:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of special education programs and services.
  • Collect and analyze data to guide decision-making and enhance student outcomes.
  • Identify areas for improvement and formulate action plans to address them.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Administration, or a related field.
  • A valid Missouri special education certification.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in special education teaching or administration.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership abilities.
  • A passion for making a positive impact on student lives and success.
  • A high level of personal and professional integrity.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including English language learners and students with special needs.
  • A commitment to collaborating with colleagues to foster a strong school community.

  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
