We are looking for a motivated and skilled Lead Automation Engineer who will take charge of or contribute to the comprehensive hardware and software design of process automation control systems projects. This role encompasses defining architectural requirements, crafting detailed software design specifications, programming PLC and SCADA applications, configuring thin client server applications, setting up process-based historian databases, optimizing control loops, offering control system startup and commissioning services, troubleshooting existing control systems, and ensuring control system qualifications. This is an excellent opportunity to lead or participate in projects from the initial concept through to the commissioning phases.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Designing and developing application/control systems for projects of varying complexities.
  • Evaluating and developing alternative system solutions that align with specified requirements.
  • Modifying program/system logic that involves multiple systems and subsystems.
  • Gaining proficiency in various programming languages and control device networks for PLCs and PCs.
  • Engaging with clients to understand their business environment, defining scope, planning, and deliverables for assigned tasks.
  • Collaborating effectively within a team environment, with a strong focus on customer service and continuous improvement.
  • Enjoying site visits and valuing the documentation and planning aspects of engineering within a regulated environment.
Your Qualifications Include:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in consulting roles.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting control systems and a solid understanding of process controls.
  • Experience with Ignition programming.
  • Control system validation experience in pharmaceutical or biotech systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Rockwell products such as ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PlantPAx, Factory Talk Software Suite, Studio 5000, PLC5, SLC500, RSView, PanelView Plus, etc.
  • Experience with other PLC platforms (GE, Siemens, Modicon).
  • Familiarity with other SCADA and HMI packages (Proficy and Wonderware).
  • Experience in implementing detailed control system electrical design packages.
  • Working knowledge of control system networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, etc.).
  • An understanding of biopharmaceutical processes, GMP, and validation.
  • Knowledge of S88 Batch standards and experience in implementing batch systems.
  • Instrumentation experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong foundation in collaboration and teamwork.

Salary range: 105K - 130K
