Position Overview:

The Senior Automation Engineer is an integral part of the Site Operations team, contributing to the Facilities Systems & Plant Engineering (FSPE) group. This role is crucial for providing technical expertise to guarantee the safe, efficient, and dependable functioning of site facilities, utilities, and equipment.

As a Technical System Owner, the Senior Automation Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert across various process automation platforms. This position involves active participation in the design, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of essential automation and technology infrastructure, covering a portfolio of over 50 buildings and 6 million square feet.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Technical System Owner (TSO) for a diverse range of automation platforms and control systems.
  • Lead the design, development, and execution of Process Automation systems.
  • Drive continuous enhancements to existing procedures, standards, and cross-functional business processes.
  • Collaborate closely with Site Operations customers, providing critical system support in a 24/7 environment.
  • Identify and resolve hardware and software application issues while managing change control.
  • Oversee server infrastructure management, including system patching, upgrades, backups, and documentation.
  • Install and troubleshoot communication networks.
  • Lead system commissioning and qualification initiatives.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and technical support documentation.
  • Direct the activities of contract engineering personnel.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess over 8 years of experience in designing and supporting process automation systems within manufacturing or critical operations settings, particularly in a pharmaceutical or GMP manufacturing context. A strong team player, you will demonstrate a commitment to learning new technologies and collaborating effectively with internal customers, team members, and external vendors.

Your outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills will distinguish you, along with your ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently. You will have strong problem-solving skills, particularly in equipment troubleshooting.

Technical Expertise Required:

  • Proficiency in PLC and SCADA systems, including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Rockwell Automation Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk.
  • Experience with data systems such as OSI PI Data Archive, Asset Framework, OSI PI Connectors, and Kepware OPC.

An understanding of cGMP regulations and Good Engineering Practices (GEP) is essential, with a continuous pursuit of improvement through methodologies like LEAN/Six Sigma. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, along with relevant system-specific certifications, will complete your impressive qualifications.

Compensation:
The expected salary range for this position is $116,400 - $216,200 USD annually, based on the primary location. Actual compensation will be determined by experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance.
