Position Overview:

As a vital member of the Site Operations division, the Senior Automation Engineer plays a crucial role within the Facilities Systems & Plant Engineering (FSPE) team. This team is dedicated to providing expert technical support to guarantee the safe, efficient, and dependable functioning of site facilities, utilities, and equipment.

The Senior Automation Engineer serves as a Technical System Owner and a subject matter expert for various process automation platforms. This position is actively involved in the design, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of essential automation and technology infrastructure across a diverse portfolio of over 50 buildings and 6 million square feet of operational space.

This role directly contributes to capital projects and business initiatives, spearheading process enhancements and overseeing regulatory inspections.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the Technical System Owner (TSO) for a variety of automation platforms, control systems, and system applications (both GMP and non-GMP).
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of Process Automation systems.
  • Facilitate continuous improvements to existing procedures, standards, and cross-functional business processes.
  • Collaborate closely with Site Operations customers to provide essential system support in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Identify and resolve hardware and software application issues while managing change control.
  • Oversee and maintain server infrastructure, including system patching, upgrades, backups, operating procedures, and system documentation.
  • Install and troubleshoot communication networks.
  • Lead system commissioning and qualification efforts.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and technical support manuals.
  • Direct the activities of contract engineering personnel.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess over 8 years of experience in designing and supporting process automation systems within manufacturing or critical operations environments, particularly in pharmaceutical or GMP settings.

Strong collaboration skills are essential, as well as the ability to learn new technologies and work effectively with internal customers, team members, and external vendors.

Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills are key differentiators, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently. A strong aptitude for problem-solving, particularly in equipment troubleshooting, is required.

Hands-on technical experience in the following areas is necessary:

  • PLC/SCADA: Proficiency in Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 & FactoryTalk.
  • Data Systems: Familiarity with OSI PI Data Archive and Collectives, Asset Framework (including plugins), OSI PI Connectors, and Kepware OPC.

An understanding of cGMP regulations and Good Engineering Practices (GEP) is essential, with a continuous pursuit of improvement through methodologies such as LEAN/Six Sigma.

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, complemented by system-specific certifications, will enhance your profile.

This position is not eligible for relocation benefits.

The expected salary range for this position is competitive and will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance.
