Position Overview

As a Lead Compliance Auditor, you will engage in comprehensive and intricate financial, regulatory, and operational audits of various County departments or entities. This role involves collaboration with fellow auditors throughout all stages of the auditing process, including the formulation of the audit strategy, objectives, scope, and methodologies. You will be responsible for developing audit plans to meet established goals and ensuring audits are completed within the designated timeline and budget.

Your responsibilities will include collecting and evaluating adequate evidence and data to draw conclusions regarding the audit objectives. You will conduct interviews with County departments to gain insights into their internal control frameworks and document these insights clearly and succinctly. Furthermore, you will prepare detailed audit reports and management correspondence, as well as assist in monitoring the execution of audit recommendations. You will communicate the outcomes of internal audits to management effectively.

Employment Type
This position is actively recruited and is at-will. It is funded through grants.

Minimum Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is mandatory.

• A minimum of four (4) years of experience in auditing, accounting, finance, compliance, or risk management is essential.

• A valid driver's license is a requirement.

This role is classified as safety-sensitive, and candidates selected for such positions must successfully pass a drug screening as part of the pre-employment background verification process.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

Proficiency in Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS), the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (IPPF), and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is crucial. You should possess the ability to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ordinances. The capability to identify potential errors, discrepancies, and unlawful activities is essential.

Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for resolving complex audit issues with clients. Effective communication, both verbal and written, is vital. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Visio is required. The ability to travel to audit sites and work in various locations is necessary. Additionally, mentoring junior staff and colleagues is an important aspect of this role.

Physical Requirements:
This position involves sedentary work, which may require exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Most of the time will be spent sitting, but there may be brief periods of walking or standing.

The County offers a hybrid work environment, allowing for telecommuting and flexible scheduling options.
