About Our Organization: St. Louis Tsunami Swimming is a thriving youth swim program dedicated to nurturing young swimmers aged 8 to 18. Our mission is to instill a passion for swimming, encourage teamwork, and support swimmers in reaching their individual and competitive aspirations. We are currently in search of a dynamic and enthusiastic Assistant Swim Coach to enhance our coaching staff.
Position Summary: We are looking for a motivated and knowledgeable Assistant Swim Coach to support the development of our youth swim team. This part-time role involves approximately 10 hours of coaching each week during evening practice sessions, along with a commitment to attend and coach at local swim competitions once a month. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in competitive swimming and coaching, along with a genuine enthusiasm for mentoring young athletes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Coach in organizing and executing swim practices.
- Offer constructive feedback and technical guidance to swimmers.
- Create a supportive and positive atmosphere for all team members.
- Track swimmers' progress and modify training plans as needed.
- Participate in local swim meets alongside the head coach, ensuring team readiness and organization.
- Adhere to the team's standards and USA Swimming regulations.
- Maintain effective communication with swimmers, parents, and fellow coaches.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in competitive swimming.
- A minimum of 1 year of coaching experience, preferably with youth teams.
- USA Swimming certification is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of stroke techniques, swimming regulations, and training strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Capability to inspire and motivate young athletes.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
