**About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Forensic Specialist to join our team at Central Regional Hospital in Butner, NC. As a Forensic Specialist, you will conduct pretrial forensic evaluations, including outpatients, inpatients, and consultation to other hospitals. Your duties will include:

  • Conducting pretrial forensic evaluations, including assessment of capacity to proceed, risk assessment, and specialized types of forensic evaluation.
  • Advanced use and interpretation of psychological testing.
  • Consultation with attorneys about evaluation results.
  • Reporting directly to judges about evaluation results.
  • Testifying in court about the conclusions reached in the forensic evaluations.

This is a full-time position eligible for the full State benefits package, including health insurance options, standard and supplemental retirement plans, NC Flex (a variety of high-quality, low-cost benefits on a pre-tax basis), and paid vacation, sick, and community service leave.

The normal work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm; however, flexibility is required to meet hospital needs.

Our location offers an ideal balance of small-town charm and easy access to major metropolitan areas, including Research Triangle Park, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Durham, NC.

**Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $77,072 - $127,169 annually, based on education and experience. As a member of the State of North Carolina team, you will also receive comprehensive benefits, including health insurance options, standard and supplemental retirement plans, NC Flex, and paid time off.

**Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must have eligibility for licensure in North Carolina under the provisions of the NC Psychology Practice Act (G.S. 90-270) and two years of professional psychological experience, one of which must be postdoctoral. You must also document extensive knowledge, skill, and ability in age-appropriate psychological testing, psychopathology, and diagnosis, as well as specific psychological tests, including tests of intellectual ability, personality, and neuropsychological screening instruments.
