Position Information:

The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work under the general supervision of their Medical Director and physician partners in WakeMed Physician Practices to deliver competent medical care to patients.

This role may involve both inpatient and outpatient care, depending on the needs of the service, and is outlined in the clinical job expectations.

Responsibilities may include completing referrals, consults, daily patient rounds, daily notes, discharge summaries, procedures, clinic notes, pre and post procedure care, prescribing, and patient care follow-ups.

The PA or NP will work closely with other healthcare providers in a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to maximize patient care.

As a healthcare professional, the PA or NP will function as an educator for PA/NP/CNM/DO students from healthcare education programs.

The PA or NP will maintain the scope of practice consistent with the policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines governed by the North Carolina Medical Board and any other federal or state regulatory agencies, as well as the policies and procedures of WakeMed.

Additional certifications, such as Advanced Life Support, may be required based on the clinical area of practice, as outlined in the clinical job expectations and reviewed annually during the annual review process.

Experience Requirements:
1 year of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is preferred.

Education Required:
A Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant or Nursing is required, and a Master's Degree in Physician Assistant or Nursing is preferred.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:
A licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is required, and Basic Life Support certification is required within 6 months of hire.

Hours of Work:
40 hours per week.

Weekend Requirements:
As needed.
