Job Summary

The Department of Forensic Psychology at InsideHigherEd is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Department Chair. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the department in its mission to provide high-quality education and research in the field of forensic psychology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Recruit, hire, and manage a team of qualified faculty members to ensure the department's academic programs are delivered to the highest standards.
    • Develop and implement a strategic plan to drive the department's growth and development.
    • Ensure the department's faculty remain active in research and scholarship, and that they are engaged in professional development opportunities.
  • Academic Quality and Innovation
    • Oversee the development and implementation of new academic programs and courses, ensuring they are aligned with the department's mission and the needs of the field.
    • Lead the department's efforts to improve student outcomes, including student retention and graduation rates.
    • Collaborate with academic affairs leaders to ensure the department's programs are accredited and meet the highest standards of quality.
  • Strategic Growth and Development
    • Develop and implement a plan to increase the department's visibility and reputation within the academic community.
    • Collaborate with admissions teams to ensure timely review of admissions files and development of materials to support achievement of new student recruiting goals.
    • Partner with university leaders to mitigate student attrition and improve student satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Clinical, Forensic, or Counseling Psychology.
  • License to practice Psychology, preferably in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Strong record of administrative experience in higher education.
  • Teaching and academic administration at the graduate level, as well as professional experience in the field of forensic psychology.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage operational processes, including the program budget.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Solid people development skills, with a focus on providing opportunities for faculty and staff to excel.
