Job Summary

Jupiter Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Chief Nursing Officer to join our Nursing Leadership team. As a key member of our leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the clinical operations of our inpatient units, ensuring that patient services are delivered in compliance with nursing care standards and state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Operations: Direct the clinical and administrative operations of the inpatient units, overseeing the development and implementation of plans to ensure safe, quality, evidence-based care.
  • Nursing Leadership: Provide oversight and direction to nursing staff, ensuring that they are equipped to provide high-quality patient care and adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Policy Development: Assist in reviewing and making recommendations on policy issues related to clinical practice, ensuring that they align with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Administrative Direction: Provide administrative direction to nursing leadership, supporting shared governance, priority-setting, decision-making, and professional development.
  • Communication and Coordination: Ensure effective communication and coordination of initiatives among various councils and teams.
  • Financial Management: Direct the preparation of budgets for assigned areas, ensuring proper allocation of financial resources and monitoring department budgets and daily staffing.
  • Leadership and Change Management: Lead change initiatives for the development of new practices, nursing units, and care delivery models.
  • Personnel Management: Direct personnel functions related to areas of responsibility, including hiring, performance management, and corrective action.
  • Quality Assurance: Evaluate and initiate corrective action regarding operational compliance with licensure, accreditation, and regulatory standards.
  • Professional Development: Serve as a role model and resource for professional colleagues, participating in leadership activities such as committees, professional organizations, publishing, and teaching.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in nursing required; Master's Degree or enrollment in master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Two years of Assistant Chief Nursing Officer experience in an acute care setting required; 5-7 years of progressively responsible related work experience demonstrating attainment of requisite job knowledge and abilities.
  • Skills: Enhanced management and communication skills, ability to establish professional relationships with staff, physicians, and patients, and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge: Strong organizational and analytical abilities, excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, and ability to demonstrate good judgment and remain calm in challenging situations.
