Position Overview:
The University of Washington Applied Physics Laboratory is seeking a qualified Research Associate to contribute to groundbreaking studies in physical oceanography. This role is designed for recent Ph.D. graduates eager to explore the dynamics of internal waves, mixing, and hydraulic processes in complex oceanic environments.

Compensation:
Salary Range: $50,400.00 – $51,600.00

Employment Type:
Full Time – Student/Graduate/Internship

Research Focus:
The successful candidate will engage in comprehensive research activities, including:
1. Conducting fieldwork aboard research vessels.
2. Analyzing data collected from advanced profiling moorings and turbulence profilers.
3. Collaborating on numerical modeling of oceanic flows and processes.

This position involves participation in multiple research cruises, assisting with logistical planning, and synthesizing observational data with model outputs. Candidates may also have the opportunity to engage in model simulations using established oceanographic models.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in physical oceanography and demonstrate the capability to conduct research in challenging marine environments. Additional qualifications that will enhance your application include:
- Experience with internal tide and wave studies.
- Knowledge of hydraulically controlled flows and mixing processes.
- Proficiency in MATLAB for data analysis and interpretation.

Education Requirement:
Doctorate in a relevant field.
