Dental Assistant 2 Job Description

The University of Washington School of Dentistry is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dental Assistant 2 to join our team. As a Dental Assistant 2, you will provide critical support to our dental students and faculty in delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide chairside assistance to dental students in the Student Teaching clinics.
  • Prepare and maintain dental materials, including impression material, composite, and bonding agents.
  • Perform expanded functions, including taking impressions, placing and removing rubber dam and matrix, and exposing radiographs.
  • Operate equipment to take digital intraoral and extraoral radiographs, including periapical, bitewing, panoramic, occlusal, and lateral images.
  • Assist dental students, residents, and faculty in four-handed dentistry and routine chair-side duties.
  • Clean and prepare treatment areas using School of Dentistry standardized infection control protocols.
  • Conduct inventories and stock supplies.
  • Monitor school-owned instruments for breakage and wear, and assess replacement needs.
  • Suggest process improvements to leadership.
  • Participate in dental student clinic orientations and limited classroom activities related to the dental team.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited training program for dental assistants.
  • Current certification as a dental assistant (CDA) or the ability to obtain same within six months.
  • Two years of experience as a dental assistant.
