Position Summary
The Clinical Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating activities within the facility, focusing on effective communication, patient throughput, resident experience, quality assurance, safety, operational efficiency, performance enhancement, service recovery, and adherence to regulatory standards. This position acts as the administrative representative in collaboration with management, addressing immediate needs or responding to inquiries as directed by the Administrator-On-Call, including investigations or responses to complaints or emergencies. The role emphasizes the promotion of a safe working environment and the execution of all responsibilities in a secure manner while maintaining clinical and professional expertise in supervising resident care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts rounds across all units to evaluate overall efficiency and productivity, gaining insights into resident care, staff, and physician satisfaction, as well as the appropriateness of care provided.
  • Serves as a clinical resource and liaison, assisting nursing staff with the organization and assignment of unit/resident care activities, evaluating care quality, and problem-solving to meet resident needs.
  • Guides staff in understanding and adhering to state and federal regulations regarding healthcare services, compliance with the Nursing Practice Act, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates as a team member to achieve the clinical units' and organization's goals, maintaining quality management, resident care, and departmental standards.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in management principles and clinical supervision.
  • Assists nursing leaders with coordinating communication at regular intervals throughout shifts via huddles, rounds, or other meetings to facilitate information exchange and promote dialogue.
  • Delegates care responsibilities to appropriate healthcare personnel in accordance with applicable legal or policy guidelines.
  • Encourages shared governance and decision-making initiatives, fostering research to positively influence clinical outcomes and advancements.

Physical Requirements
This position requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. The ability to lift and support up to 35 pounds is necessary for handling residents, medical equipment, and supplies. Proficiency in English is required, along with intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch. Finger dexterity and the ability to think critically and concentrate are essential. The candidate must be able to respond promptly to changes in resident or unit/department conditions. Additional specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nursing leader.

Education, Experience, and Certifications
Applicants must be graduates of an accredited School of Nursing and possess a current RN license in the state of employment. For those declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as their primary residency, they must meet the licensure requirements of their home state. For non-NLC states, a current RN license in the state of practice is required. BLS certification is mandatory per policy guidelines. A minimum of two years of nursing experience is preferred, ideally in long-term care settings. A BSN is preferred, and certification in gerontological nursing is advantageous. Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required by the nursing leader within the department.
