Position Summary
This position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating facility operations with a focus on communication, resident throughput, patient satisfaction, quality assurance, safety, operational efficiency, performance enhancement, service recovery, and adherence to regulatory standards while collaborating with nursing and facility teams in daily functions.
Authorized to act as the administrative representative on behalf of and in collaboration with Administration, addressing immediate needs or as requested by the Administrator-On-Call to investigate or respond to inquiries, follow-up, or assist with complaint investigations or emergency situations.
Ensures a safe working environment and executes all job responsibilities in a secure manner while maintaining clinical and professional expertise in supervising resident care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts rounds on all units to evaluate overall efficiency and productivity, gaining insights into resident care, teammate, and physician satisfaction, as well as the appropriateness of resident care.
- Acts as a clinical resource/liaison by assisting nursing staff with the organization and assignment of unit/resident care activities, evaluating resident care, and problem-solving to meet resident needs.
- Guides staff in understanding and complying with state and federal regulations regarding healthcare services and practices, adherence to the Nursing Practice Act, and the policies and procedures of the organization.
- Collaborates as a team member to achieve the goals and objectives of the clinical units and the organization, upholding quality management, resident care, and departmental standards.
- Demonstrates proficiency in applying management principles and clinical supervision.
- Assists nurse leaders with coordinating communication at regular intervals throughout shifts via huddles, rounds, or other meetings to share information and foster dialogue.
- Delegates care responsibilities to appropriate healthcare personnel in accordance with applicable legal or policy guidelines.
Physical Requirements
This role requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be capable of lifting and supporting the weight of 35 pounds when handling residents, medical equipment, and supplies. Proficiency in English is required. Must possess intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch, along with finger dexterity. Physical abilities testing is mandatory. Critical thinking and the ability to concentrate are essential. Must be able to respond swiftly to changes in resident and/or unit/department conditions. Additional department-specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current RN license in the state of employment and residence or, if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as the primary state of residency, must meet the licensure requirements in the home state; or for Non-National License Compact states, a current RN license is required in the state of employment.
- BLS certification is required per policy guidelines.
- A minimum of two years of nursing experience is preferred, particularly in long-term care.
- A BSN is preferred, and certification in gerontological nursing is also preferred. Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required within the department by the nurse leader.
